What do you actually get when you book a boudoir photoshoot with Julia Winter?
You are not simply booking a room, a camera and a backdrop.
You are booking Julia Winter — a female boudoir and erotic photographer based in Kew, West London, who personally lights, directs, photographs and edits your experience.
I arrived in London in 2005. My background includes ten years in medicine, a Master’s degree in Public Health, an HND in Photography and an adult photography practice developed over many years.
That combination influences the way I photograph people: understanding the body, observing its lines and movement, knowing how light changes shape, and directing rather than expecting you to arrive already knowing how to pose.

This isn’t backdrop hire where you’re left to perform for the camera. I work with your posture, expression, movement, light and positioning throughout the session.

The purpose isn’t simply to spend a few hours in a studio. It’s to leave with something beautifully finished that still matters years later.
What happens when you arrive
We begin with consultation, styling and a clear idea of what you want from the experience. Then I direct you through the shoot.
If you freeze, we stop and reset. If you’ve never posed before, I guide you. You don’t have to perform, invent poses or somehow become confident before you walk through the door.
For couples, the experience can explore connection, attraction and intimacy together — what I describe within my practice as couples phototherapy through photography.
For an individual, the focus may be confidence, body image, sensuality, self-expression or simply documenting yourself at this particular point in your life.
When the session ends, you don’t leave with a forgotten folder of camera files. Depending on your chosen collection, the finished experience can include a private gallery, professionally finished photographs, film, GIFs, a slideshow and a beautifully produced album or a print box.
These are not leftovers from a photoshoot. They are the gifts you take home from the experience.

I have never done a photoshoot. Can I still book? +
Yes. First-timers are the usual booking at Julia Winter Studio Ltd, not the exception. You do not need a concept, a Pinterest folder, or any modelling experience. Curiosity is enough. The posing is directed.
What if I am shy or freeze? +
Say so before or on the day. The session slows. Clothes can stay on longer. A direction can be dropped. Nerves are treated as part of the work. You do not have to become a different person in the changing room first.
Do I have to undress? +
No. Clothing stays at the level written in the brief. Some first sessions stay dressed or in lingerie. Artistic nude, or anything more explicit, is only included when you ask for it. Consent can be tightened in the room. It is not loosened by default.
Is the photographer a woman? +
Yes. Julia Winter is a female boudoir and erotic photographer in Kew. She lights, directs, photographs and edits. Nobody else is in the room unless you booked makeup or a model.
Can couples book a first session together? +
Yes. A first couples session can stay gentle: connection, being seen together, a record of the relationship as it is. It can also go further when that is the brief. Neither person has to perform for the camera alone. That is the point of directing two people in one room.
Where is the studio — and can she come to me? +
The private studio is at 13 Woodman Mews, Kew, Richmond, London TW9 4AH. Appointment only. Arrival notes follow a held date.
Julia can also come to you. London outcalls to a home or hotel are arranged after an ID check and a deposit. The Kew studio is still the better room when you want wardrobe, lighting and a prepared set. A visit to you is the better room when privacy at home matters more.
What do I take home? +
A private gallery of session highlights, then finished photographs. Film, GIFs, a slideshow, an album or a print box according to the collection. Personal-use files unless a commercial licence is written separately. The point of the booking is the object you still open years later.
How do I book a first-time boudoir photoshoot in London? +
Write a private enquiry. Include a preferred date, whether you are coming as a couple or alone, and one sentence about what the pictures are for. A deposit holds the date. Consultation can happen online first, or on the day in Kew.
